Practice Management Institute® (PMI) trains and certifies administrative professionals working in medical offices: medical office managers and staff working in coding, billing, auditing, and compliance. New and experienced professionals learn current guidelines and best practices to perform more effectively in their role. Providers and consultants involved in the business side of outpatient services also attend to understand the practical application of medical office administration guidelines.

The PMI curriculum includes five opportunities for medical office professionals to earn certification in their area(s) of expertise: Certified Medical Coder (CMC)®, Certified Medical Insurance Specialist (CMIS)®, Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM)®, Certified Medical Compliance Officer (CMCO)®, and Certified Medical Chart Auditor E/M (CMCA-E/M).

PMI Credentials

Practice Management Institute® accepts CEUs associated with participation in this Healthcare Administration Alliance conference toward the recertification requirements for CMC, CMIS, CMOM, CMCO, and CMCA-E/M credentials.

Each session is assigned 1.0 continuing education units.  One can earn up to 23 CEUs during this 4-day event.  PMI certified professionals are expected to claim only the actual hours they were present to participate and to post them on the online CEU tracker*Post your CEUs within 7 days of the event and you will receive a customized CEU certificate to retain for your records.

Maxine has more than thirty years of experience in medical practice management, adult education and general business. She has taught courses at various levels, including teaching business communications and accounting at Midwestern State University in Texas. Maxine has extensive experience teaching administrative and clinical personnel essential medical office skills such as medical terminology, coding, reimbursement, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance. She is adept at personnel management, government rules and regulations, accounting and budgeting. Additionally, her experience with practice marketing and development make her a knowledgeable and much sought-after practice management resource.

Maxine has served as an administrator of a multi-specialty clinic, where she was responsible for all clinic operations including medical records, billing and collections, OSHA, HIPAA and Medicare compliance, and all accounting operations. She also has experience in medical practice consulting and has successfully launched multiple practices.
